Joining the Herd: Living Skills for
Youth nurtures positive thoughts and behaviors, social skills, self-awareness, and effective decision making; allowing
juveniles to learn from experiences and improve their lives. The six week, evidence-based, equine assisted cognitive-behavioral
therapy program utilizes interactive and hands-on activities that increase participants’ behavioral-life and social
skills.
What Happens During a Session?
|
Each session takes place on the ground (no riding) with a facilitation team made up of a licensed mental health professional,
a certified equine specialist, and one or more horses. The group of youth participates in a variety of ground activities with
the horses that work on skills such as problem solving, judgment, and communication.
